Keeping in line with an Artizen theme, the art of zen mentoring focuses on a plan that is clear, calm, and focused on clarity, presence, and steady growth. Being a mentor for creative professionals and/or emerging entrepreneurs for creative projects involves guiding, supporting, and inspiring (with the emphasis on inspiring) another to grow personally and professionally. Mentoring is focused on turning creative potential into meaningful progress.
Using and applying my knowledge and experiences to overcome challenges, you are always encouraged to reach your goals with reflection, clarity, and strategic purpose. Instead of an initial preoccupation with only the outcome, my mentoring focus moves toward awareness, clarity, and consistent and intentional practice starting with one meaningful action that builds over time. Any directive is offered to maintain as well as sustain continued focus on your goals, problem-solving, and then the desired outcome.
As a mentor, I provide advice and encouragement but also act as a role model by demonstrating integrity, commitment, and a genuine interest in your success. I will offer my acquired wisdom and knowledge from similar learning experiences. As I do provide you with expert guidance, feedback and support, I will always respect your opinions and ideas. In other words, there is progress through awareness and clarity with an additional focus on self-growth.
I realized a long time ago that I utilize both sides of my brain, both creative and logical, and found that long-term success and unique experiences are strengthened by incorporating “right-brain” and “left-brain” strengths such as being able to plan and problem-solve, while conceptualizing ideas. Therefore, I will adapt my mentoring process with you to balance intuition with structure, creativity with logic, and reflection with purposeful action. The right-brain allows for the imagination and exploration, while the left-brain allows for structure & execution.
In addition, the right-brain draws upon my creativity, empathy, and intuition, allowing me to inspire and encourage new ideas with you. On the left-side of the brain, my mentoring utilizes logical thinking, organization, and clear communication, where you set goals, solve problems, and I follow your progress. Together, these approaches reflect a mentorship as both an art and a science, blending rational strategies with imaginative support to help my clients grow.
